Vitality - The Origin Of Being.Part Three
From the moment Lucifer first saw Adam and Eve together, enjoying the wonderful gardens of earth, his rebellious and depraved essence seethed with bitter jealousy. The very sight of their vital and graceful appearance threw him into a furious craving for revenge against them and all the offspring of their union. Such was his venom that he dug deep into his own evil past to find the most effective way to motivate them in to defying God and subsequently fall from grace. The cause of his fall was unrepentant pride induced by accepted flattery and he could see that if he was cunning and clever enough in flattering them he could trick them into believing his lies. In gloating anticipation he considered the outcome of achieving this and how he could entice them, and their offspring, into every evil imaginable and ultimately make them subject to him in the squalor of his existence. It was all a matter of waiting for the right opportunity to strike, for if he made one miscalculation they could be scared off forever. Curiosity mixed with self confidence and complacency on Adam and Eve's part were the signs he looked for as a prerequisite to trapping them into accepting his opinions as to what was right or wrong, for he knew this was the most effective approach to initiate their downfall. As a counter to Lucifer's wiles, God lovingly and wisely warned them about the dangers of being too trusting and too self assured when faced with unusual and unreserved compliments and ideas that could be presented to them by rebels in disguise. He did this often but always without taking from them their gift of freewill, the gift of free discernment, the essential element for conceptual creative thought and self expression, which was God's great and loving desire for them. Lucifer's opening move was to gain acceptance into their free thinking that was as yet untested and prone to flights of innocent exuberance. He observed that when at times they lapsed into this state they tended to pay scant attention to God's advice and being untested lost sight of the need to be alert and use their freewill wisely. He also noted a slight languidness in their desire and need to develop a will cultured in humility; that is a will cultured in the knowledge and total acceptance of God's Infinite Omnipotence. It was this naivety that Lucifer saw as an opening for flattery and he began by making charming, lewd remarks about their complementary attractiveness. Such was his cunning that he excited their curiosity to the point where they were happy to enter into dialogue with him. This was just what Lucifer had hoped for and now that he had their attention, it was important that he maintain it with conversations that were always friendly and enquiring of them and their happiness. He was extra careful never to be critical in any way of them or of God. On the contrary, he extolled them for their ability to answer the many questions he put to them and on one well planned occasion he boldly lavished them with praise for the advice they were able to present on the many profound subjects under discussion. It was at this juncture that they began to accept his praise vainly, to the point where the door of their defence was ajar. This was the critical opening Lucifer had worked towards and into which he could now slip the thin end of the wedge, a wedge formed of seemingly harmless quips about their skills and rights in comparison to God's. He did this in preparation for his main purpose, for although dialogue had proved most effective, it was not of itself sufficient to harm their immortality. To do this he had to entice them into being his hosts, so that he could enter into their very beings and fulfill his parasitical purposes as sponger and harassing sycophant. As a parasite he could draw from them a measure of their supernatural strength to replenish his own dwindling spiritual powers, and as a consequence destroy their incorporeal immortality. Once stripped of this perpetuity, Adam and Eve's struggle to compete with Lucifer on their own would be hopelessly inadequate. For from the moment they chose to invite the sycophant, the flatterer into their lives they would have fallen from the power of God's grace. Once fallen their lives would be in the hands of the accuser, who would harass them throughout their mortal lives so that, at their death, he could claim them and take them to eternal torment. Lucifer's treachery could not unfold without God knowing, something Lucifer was quite aware of, but he was also aware of God's commitment not to negate the gift of freewill. With vilifying arrogance he brazenly claimed before God that his success so far was proof that his rebellion was justified and that God's trust in mankind was a grave mistake. What Lucifer would not concede, was that the gift of freewill was The Father's right to give; give as an expression of love for His children, a sharing of Himself, for He is love. To be given freewill is to possess the greatest gift of all, the freedom to love and especially to love God for His goodness. "Freedom to love," sneered Lucifer, "how cruel are you God to conceive and create beings so vulnerable, so assailable. I will show you how loving and trustworthy they are!" "My children were not created to be assailed." God countered, "They were created to love and be loved, but you Satan (Lucifer) because of your unrepentant pride, you have become spiteful and full of malice towards them, even though I offered you the joy of taking delight in them." "Delight in them!" hissed Satan, "The only delight I want is to share my lot with them and taunt them with damning accusations forever!" Adam and Eve of themselves were not conscious of Lucifer's boasting but God again warned them explicitly that they must not eat the fruit of the tree in the centre of the garden, for if they did they would surely die! He told them this because He knew Lucifer was going to tempt them by appealing to their vanity; that by eating it's fruit they would become as great as God.
