Vitality - The Origin Of Being.

Part Two

We are free and we know instinctively that we are meant to be free, free to choose.

Even a small baby in it's earliest years exercises this gift of freewill without knowing why or from where the gift came. It is of course, God's generous gift to us His children, not only for our delight but for our on-going development as members of His talented family. A gift to be experienced forever.

It was this act of God's generosity which Lucifer would not accept, but why?

The answer of why is with us still, it is all around us, in all nations and all peoples. For as it was with Lucifer so it was with our first parents, the destructive sin of pride. But why were they proud? How could such a thing happen to those who had been gifted with so much? For the same reason as with other vices, it happened gradually as a series of events, happenings due to flattery.

In Lucifer's case because he was the brilliant and beautiful angel of light, many of the lessor angels consistently and repeatedly remarked on his beautiful bearing, even comparing him to God Himself. Yes Lucifer was beautiful, not of himself but because he was so often in the proximate radiance of God. Of matters eternal, he had a profound understanding and he had an inkling God was planning something special. Mistakenly he assumed God was planning to gift him with the special honour of freewill in recognition of his attentive manner.

This assumption grew from the seed of flattery which took root in him and grew into an all consuming pride.

Lucifer's preoccupation with self did not go unnoticed by God, who graciously chose to rectify the imbalance by modifying the intensity of His own brilliant radiance whenever Lucifer was in His proximate presence. He also chose to delay His plans for the generation of offspring, humankind, to allow Lucifer to regain noticeable composure.

God acts when justice and wisdom meet through the influence of love.

Lucifer's role was one of high service to God, a role he knew well and so for God to graciously choose to act with such patience towards him was profoundly lovable, just as lovable as the act of creating offspring with the gift of freewill. For this reason when Lucifer rebelled against God for choosing to generate off spring, evil happened. Evil that is with us still, vehement, hostile, cunning and contradictory of God, His goodness and His love.

A love that is an eternal commitment to order for our sake.

When faced with the truth, Lucifer was in denial. Too proud, too conceited to accept God's authority and judgement. Justice and wisdom met and love prevailed. Lucifer and the angels who courted him were expelled from the Kingdom of Heaven.

"Self-justification in all things is a sign of an unrelenting pride and will forever keep you apart from Me and My Kingdom."
