A Prophet's Calling

"I am calling you to sacrifice, to self-sacrifice, to take up your cross and follow Me. To choose the narrow road of faithfulness and integrity which leads to the upper room I have prepared for your Pentecost. Then, to speak boldly of Me in the language of My Spirit. To heal in My name, by your touch and your shadow, a wounded world. To uphold My word and receive a prophet's reward:

To see what others do not see,
To hear what others fail to hear,
To know what others cannot know,
To speak what others fear to speak,
To be what others will not be, My disciple."

A prophet can be a person sent by God to remind the nations of their duty to God and to bring them back to obedience and love. Therefore to be a prophet can be a very demanding calling. The prophets of old were often asked to proclaim the will of God to people who, apart from being unreceptive, were superstitious and hostile.

In today's world a prophet is asked to proclaim God's will to people influenced by the intellectualism and successes, yet tragedies of our scientific age. True prophets, whether of the past or the present, are recognised by their faithfulness and integrity when they are responding to the call of God's Holy Spirit. Knowing their own natural limitations they quickly learn to perceive God's supernatural favour, which gives them the strength and competence to proclaim in awe the wonder of the word of God.

"It is through co-operation that My word is given to you. A co-operation that has with it the difficulty of being accepted. Therefore, be pleased that I have called prophets who have been willing to co-operate with Me even when confronted with much difficulty. I want you to reflect on this and imitate in some way the co-operation you see. From small beginnings and through co-operation, great can be the achievements and the results of being an open ear for My love and care."
