Family

A happy and responsible family is not the product of chance or social engineering but the result of the efforts of wise, loving and self sacrificing parents; parents who love and respect each other and love and respect their children, because they are foremost God's children and God's gift to them. The fourth commandment is clear when linked to the words of Christ, "Always treat others as you would like them to treat you," which makes this family commandment reciprocal. The best way for parents to train their children is by good example.

"To spoil the goodness of children is to spoil the life of mankind."

"You have been supplied with the basics of love and order: My commandments. Honour (respect greatly) your father and mother."

"In their exuberance the young may think that their parents have 'lost it' when in reality they themselves have not yet 'found it': wisdom."

"Always honour your father and mother with a receptive ear."

"True family ties are established through the respect expected of you by the fourth commandment and are fully substantiated by the acceptance of the general commandment that you love one another."

"To love one another often requires goodwill: the willingness to submit one's freewill for the common good of the family, and society in general."

"If governments feel compelled to legislate for family behaviour it shows that the members of that government have failed to protect families from the influences of malice and the lack of goodwill within the wider community."

"Promotion of anti-family behaviour has rent many families apart and is of evil intent."

"Recognition of evil is what is required, not laws that bedevil families."

"Gratitude begins at home."

"When did you last say thankyou to your parents?"
